Finger millet upma

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Finger millet flour - 1 cup
  2. Rava - 1 cup ( any rava will work)
  3. Water- 4 cups
  4. Ghee - 2 teaspoon
  5. Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil - 1 tablespoon
  8. Mustard seeds - ¼ teaspoon
  9. Urad dal -½ teaspoon
  10. Chana dal - ½ teaspoon
  11. Finely chopped Onion - 1
  12. Curry leaves - 1 spring
  13. Green chillies - 2 or 3 depends upon the spice level
  14. Finely chopped coriander leaves.
  15. Cashew nuts - 10 optional.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Allow them to crackle. Add chana dal, urad dal, chopped onion, sliced chillies, and curry leaves.
  2. When the onion has become translucent add the rava.Roast it. Then add the finger millet flour. Roast everything well. Keep it on a low flame.
  3. once the finger millet flour’s raw smell goes off and is roasted well. Add water. Add little ghee, lemon juice and salt. Close and cook on a low flame. Once it is cooked, add roasted cashews and coriander leaves. Serve hot.
